How Much Should You Really Spend on Skin Care Each Year?

The skin care industry is loud.

New treatments, new products, and new promises seem to appear every week. For many people, the hardest part of caring for their skin isn’t choosing what works. It is knowing what actually makes sense for them.

At treat. Skin & Body, my goal has always been to simplify skin care. I do not believe skin care should feel transactional or pressured, and I do not believe there is one “correct” way to care for your skin.

Every client has different goals, different lifestyles, and different budgets. All of those factors matter when creating a plan that is both realistic and sustainable.

One of the most helpful conversations I have started having with clients is surprisingly simple.

What would you realistically like to invest in your skin each year?”

Not what social media suggests.

Not what a treatment menu implies.

Just what feels comfortable and realistic for you.

Once we know that number, everything becomes much clearer.

When the Budget Is Modest

If someone wants to invest around $700 per year, that is completely reasonable. The goal simply shifts to choosing treatments that provide meaningful benefit without requiring frequent maintenance.

For example, a client might choose to do two VI Peels per year, spaced about six months apart, while keeping their home routine simple and consistent. This approach can help maintain brightness, improve tone, and support overall skin health without requiring frequent visits.

When treatments are less frequent, choosing something that creates meaningful cellular turnover becomes more important.

Skin care does not have to be complicated to be effective.

When Clients Want Ongoing Maintenance

Some clients enjoy investing in more consistent treatments. In these cases, the focus usually becomes maintenance and prevention.

This might include treatments such as Hydrafacial, Laser Genesis, or microneedling spaced every four to six weeks.

At this level, the goal is not dramatic transformation but rather supporting collagen, improving skin function, and maintaining healthy skin over time.

When Budget Is Not the Limiting Factor

Interestingly, even when budget is not a concern, the approach stays the same.

Ethical skin care is not about doing everything available. It is about choosing the right treatments at the right time for the right reasons.

More treatments do not always lead to better results. Thoughtful planning almost always produces better outcomes than simply doing more.

As for the approach at treat. SKIN & BODY?

My job is not to sell you treatments. My job is to help you make decisions that feel right for your skin, your life, and your budget - now and long term.

Some clients prefer a very simple routine and a couple treatments each year. Others enjoy a more proactive plan with regular treatments. Both approaches can support healthy skin when they are done thoughtfully.

Healthy skin is not about chasing perfection.

It is about consistency, prevention, and making choices that support your skin long term.

And that looks different for everyone. If you would like help creating a personalized skin plan, we invite you to schedule a consultation at treat. Skin & Body, where the goal is always to simplify skin care and create a plan that truly fits your goals and lifestyle.
